I build backend systems in Django — the kind that stay fast and predictable once real traffic hits them. Over the past seven years that's meant tracing N+1 queries out of ORM calls, designing permission systems modeled on AWS IAM, turning slow endpoints into 200ms responses, and getting HIPAA-compliant health platforms to run cleanly across four countries. I care as much about the test suite as the feature — most of my projects carry thousands of cases because I'd rather catch a regression in CI than in production. Lately that's extended into leading the engineers who write that code: reviewing hundreds of thousands of lines, building the CI/CD pipelines they ship through, and making sure the systems we hand off are ones nobody has to be afraid of touching.
